Annual Inflation Drops to 31.51 Percent in August

According to August data announced by the Turkish Statistical Institute, the consumer price index increased by 1.84 percent on a monthly basis, while the annual inflation rate became 31.51 percent.

According to data from the Turkish Statistical Institute, consumer prices rose by 1.84 percent in August and annual inflation fell to 31.51 percent. This rate was recorded as the lowest August price increase in the last four years.

August Consumer Price Increases

According to data announced by the Turkish Statistical Institute, the Consumer Price Index increased by 1.84 percent in August, remaining below market expectations. The total CPI increase in the first eight months of the year was 22.07 percent.

Annual Changes in Expenditure Groups

Among the main expenditure groups with the highest weight, the annual increase was 33.79 percent in food and non-alcoholic beverages, 35.08 percent in transportation, and 39.77 percent in housing-related expenses. The highest annual increase was seen in education at 53.44 percent.

Highest Increases and Decreases on a Monthly Basis

On a monthly basis, the highest increase was experienced in the education group at 8.62 percent, while a 3.54 percent decrease was recorded in the clothing and footwear group. The highest price increase was detected in international passenger transport by air.

Assessments from Economic Management

Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz stated that the fight against inflation is being carried out resolutely with a holistic approach. Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek stated that annual inflation dropped to 31.5 percent and the goal of permanent price stability is maintained.

New Period Rent Increase Rate

With the announcement of the Turkish Statistical Institute data, the ceiling increase rate to be applied for tenants and workplace owners has also become clear. The ceiling increase rate, calculated based on twelve-month averages, was determined as 31.79 percent.
