As the 20-billion-dollar fund investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office expands, 104 assets have been frozen, Tera Portföy executives have been detained, and requests for dismissal from duty have emerged within the AK Party.
Scope of the investigation and liquidation process
The investigation launched by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the fund crisis, which reaches a total size of 20 billion dollars and concerns over 450,000 account holders, is being deepened. While conditions regarding the liquidation of the closed funds are becoming clear, it is stated that a decision emerged during President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's meeting with his economic team to prioritize the payment of fund shares of 1 million lira and below.
Legal steps and asset measures
Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek announced that fund outflows between July 1 and September 16 were examined, and the assets of 46 legal entities, 18 funds, and 42 real persons were frozen. While a travel ban abroad was imposed on 37 suspects who did not previously have measures against them, the number of arrested individuals in the investigation reached 51.
Tera Portföy executives detained
Within the scope of the investigation, Tera Portföy Chairman of the Board Erdin Özel and Tera Portföy CEO Emir Münir Sarpyener, against whom a travel ban had previously been applied, were detained. In the operations carried out to date, legal proceedings have been initiated regarding a total of 76 suspects.

Former Family Minister and AK Party Deputy Chairman Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya requested her dismissal from duty from President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in order to clarify the allegations raised. AK Party Spokesperson Ömer Çelik emphasized that there is no systemic risk to the economy.
