General Mobilization Declared Following Houthi Advance in Yemen
The internationally recognized government of Yemen has called on the public to mobilize following the loss of strategic regions and announced an amnesty for Houthi secessionists.
Yemen's internationally recognized government has declared a general mobilization and called on citizens after critical regions in the west came under Houthi control.
Call for General Mobilization and Amnesty Decision
Rashad al-Alimi, the chairman of Yemen's ruling council, called for a national resistance against developments threatening the country, urging citizens to support this struggle. Along with this move, it was also announced that an immediate amnesty would be granted to fighters who leave Houthi ranks.
Loss of Critical Regions and Strategic Developments
The rapid Houthi advances in the western regions in September occurred following the collapse of the 2022 ceasefire. As a result of the ongoing clashes, the city of Mocha and Mayyun Island were captured, while control of the Bab al-Mandeb strait also passed to the opposing side.
Recapturing the Capital and Regional Security Moves
Al-Alimi pledged that the capital Sanaa, lost in 2014, would be recaptured and state sovereignty established. Meanwhile, while Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan took steps against regional security threats, Saudi Arabia announced the formation of a new maritime coalition for the Red Sea.
