The near standstill of passages in the Strait of Hormuz and pressures on refinery capacity could cause further increases in energy prices and volatility in global markets.
Weather Conditions and Food Inflation
It was stated that droughts in the UK and El Nino conditions globally could prompt the central bank to reassess its forecasts.
In his remarks to the Treasury Select Committee, Bailey emphasized that inflation risks are also on the upside in the food and agricultural sectors.
Borrowing Costs and Forecasts
The remarks came at a sensitive time when the British government is facing borrowing costs at their highest level in nearly 30 years.
BoE forecasts project that food inflation will rise to approximately 3.5 percent by the end of the year.

Capital Economics forecasts that food inflation in the UK, which fell to 1.3 percent in July, will rise to approximately 5 percent next summer.
