BIST 100 index on Borsa Istanbul finishes the day with a sharp decline

After losses in the BIST 100 index on Borsa Istanbul exceeded 6 percent, the Index-Based Circuit Breaker System was activated and trading was temporarily halted. At the end of the day, the index lost 5.54 percent of its value and closed at 13,122.58 points.

Circuit Breaker System Triggered

Borsa İstanbul AŞ announced that the Index-Based Circuit Breaker System was activated and trading in the markets was temporarily halted after losses in the BIST 100 index exceeded the 6 percent threshold.

In an official statement made to the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP), it was announced that the index-based circuit breaker was triggered as of 16:04:32 and a decision was made to temporarily halt all transaction queues in the equities market.

Trading Halted in Markets

In line with the decision, trading was also halted in contracts based on Equities and Equity Indices traded within the structure of the Futures and Options Market (VIOP).

Additionally, transactions in the Debt Securities Market Equity Repo Market were among the activities temporarily suspended.

End-of-Day Points and Volume Data

The BIST 100 index on Borsa Istanbul completed the session with a 5.54 percent loss in value at 13,122.58 points.

A decrease of 769.72 points was recorded compared to the previous close, while the total trading volume of the market stood at 262.4 billion liras.

Sharpest Declines on a Sectoral Basis

Throughout the day, the banking index lost 6.38 percent and the holding index lost 6.48 percent in value.

The sharpest decline across the general market was seen in the financial leasing and factoring sector with a drop of 9.74 percent.
