Borsa Istanbul BIST 100 index starts the day flat

Closing the previous day with a decline, the BIST 100 index dropped slightly at the opening, while sector indices experienced varying rates of gain and loss.

The BIST 100 index on Borsa Istanbul made a flat start to the day, dropping slightly by 2.885.57 points compared to the previous close.

Opening Figures of the Index

Following a selling-heavy trend yesterday, Borsa İstanbul's BIST 100 index had finished the day down 2.74 percent at 12,888.33 points.

At the opening of the day, the index decreased by 2.76 points and 0.02 percent compared to the previous close, falling to 12,885.57 points.

Status of Sectors

In the opening session, the banking index recorded an increase of 0.72 percent, while the holding index lost 1.32 percent in value.

Among sector indices, transportation was the top gainer with 0.98 percent, while financial leasing and factoring was the biggest decliner with 8.34 percent.

Course of Global Markets

Global markets tended to recover as expectations of a new agreement in the Middle East eased concerns regarding energy supply.

Additionally, the abatement of the sell-off wave in bond markets was among the factors positively supporting markets globally.

Statements Regarding Fund Investigations

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made assessments regarding the fund investigations, stating that the judiciary has launched a comprehensive investigation.

Stating that there have been some detentions and arrests, Erdoğan emphasized that anyone responsible will be held accountable before the law.

Today's Data Agenda and Technical Levels

Analysts stated that the domestic data agenda is calm today, while durable goods orders in the US will be monitored abroad.

It was also stated that the Michigan consumer sentiment index and inflation expectations will be followed on the international agenda.

From a technical perspective, it was noted that 12,700 and 12,600 points are support levels, while 13,000 and 13,100 points act as resistance levels for the BIST 100 index.
