Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz shared critical targets regarding the economic program at the 27th Business World Summit of TÜRKONFED held in Elazığ. Yılmaz announced that Turkey's economic growth rate will gradually increase to reach 5 percent by 2029, and the national income per capita will exceed 20,000 dollars.

Message of Economic Resilience at the Elazığ Summit

Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz addressed participants at the 27th Business World Summit of the Turkish Enterprise and Business Confederation, hosted by the Firat Federation of Industry and Business. He stated that Turkey's economy maintains its robust stance despite global uncertainties.

Growth and Inflation Targets

Sharing data from the Medium-Term Program period, Yılmaz announced that the economy is expected to grow by 3.7 percent in 2025 and 3.3 percent in 2026. Noting that inflation stood at 31.5 percent as of August 2026, Yılmaz recorded that this rate will be brought down to single digits again through implemented policies.

Current Account Deficit and Employment Expectations

Throughout the program, the ratio of the current account deficit to national income is targeted to drop from 2.6 percent to 1.6 percent. It is planned to reduce the unemployment rate from 8.1 percent to 7.6 percent and generate approximately 2.1 million additional employment opportunities.

National Income and Economic Cost of Terrorism

Yılmaz reported that they project national income to exceed 1.8 trillion dollars and income per capita to surpass 20,000 dollars in 2026. Additionally, recalling that the economic cost of terrorism over the past 40 years is at least 2.3 trillion dollars, he emphasized that the goal of a terrorism-free Turkey will boost economic potential.
