Company fined for opening nine different brands with a single restaurant
The Advertising Board of the Ministry of Trade has imposed an administrative fine on a company operating under nine different names on food ordering applications despite having a single physical location.
The Advertising Board of the Ministry of Trade has fined Data Gurme Gıda Turizm Ticaret Limited Şirketi 1 million 83 thousand liras for operating under nine different names on food ordering platforms despite having only a single restaurant.
Virtual Restaurant Scheme Exposed
A virtual restaurant chain scheme operated by a business on food ordering platforms came under the radar following examinations by the Ministry of Trade. It was understood from the findings that the company created menus under nine different names despite having a single restaurant.
As a result of the work carried out by the Advertising Board, it was officially determined that Data Gurme Gıda Turizm Ticaret Limited Şirketi engaged in misleading commercial activity through food platforms.
Operations Under Nine Different Names
It was determined that the company accepted orders on food platforms under the names Sushi Samba, Noodle Factory, Hirado Erişte Noodle, Mochi Japon Tatlısı, Ninja Akasaka Sushi, Mochi Turkey, Dragon Sushi Bar, Ayumi Sushi Bar, and Japon Sokak Lezzetleri.
It was clearly revealed that behind all these examined names there was actually a single actual restaurant and commercial activities were conducted exclusively through this center.
Consumers Misled
It was determined that although there was actually a single restaurant, different restaurant names and addresses were used on food platforms. Furthermore, separate consumer review ratings were included for each virtual brand.
The Advertising Board reports stated that this applied method created a false impression among consumers that multiple independent restaurants were operating in the region.
Addresses Found Not to Exist
It was emphasized that the aforementioned restaurants did not physically exist at all at the addresses stated on food platforms, and this situation was understood during inspections.
It was confirmed through official audits that consumers were misled due to these non-existent address details and the fake multi-business perception.
Million-Lira Administrative Fine
As a result of the investigation and findings, the Advertising Board of the Ministry of Trade decided to impose a total administrative fine of 1 million 83 thousand liras on the relevant company.
This administrative penalty aims to prevent similar misleading virtual restaurant practices and protect consumer rights.
