Critical warnings regarding the liquidation of investment funds and the Emlak Katılım process
The New Party Economy Coordination Council posed questions to Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek regarding the crisis that led to the liquidation of 131 investment funds.
Following the crisis that shook the capital markets and resulted in the liquidation of 131 investment funds, the New Party Economy Coordination Council issued a comprehensive statement declaring that the approvals granted by public authorities and delayed audits must be clarified.
Liquidation Process and Questions for Mehmet Şimşek
It was recalled that the Capital Markets Board appointed Türkiye İş Bankası and Ziraat Bankası for the liquidation procedures of 131 investment funds belonging to seven portfolio management companies. Noting that it was announced in November 2025 that manipulation in the funds would not be permitted, it was asked why approximately ten months were waited for a comprehensive intervention.
Past Approvals and Audit Mechanisms
It was requested that criminal complaints not be limited only to fund managers, but that the bosses who established the main mechanism should also be investigated. It was demanded that TEFAS transactions, initial public offering approvals, and title changes be reviewed retroactively by past CMB administrations.
MASAK Measures and Public Resources Warning
It was requested to be disclosed what measures MASAK has taken regarding individuals linked to suspicious transactions. Recalling that Emlak Katılım has started negotiations to acquire certain companies, it was emphasized that past losses should not be loaded onto the public through acquisitions made via state-capitalized institutions.
New Party's Urgent Solution and Follow-up List
Stating that the process cannot be closed with an ordinary liquidation operation, it was demanded that the CMB, BRSA, and MASAK processes be investigated transparently. It was requested that individuals suspected of fraud not be allowed to remain in the management of financial institutions.
