Culture and tourism investments made in Antalya over 24 years announced
At a road opening program held in Antalya, the city's infrastructure and tourism investments over the last 24 years were shared with the public.
During the program attended by Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy and Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum, it was reported that 19.2 billion liras of culture and tourism investments have been made in Antalya over the past 24 years.
Multi-Billion Tourism Investment in Antalya
It was stated that a wide range of works, from institutionalization to infrastructure, has been carried out in Antalya, one of the important centers of Turkish tourism. Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy announced that the total amount of culture and tourism investments made in the city over the last 24-year period has reached 19.2 billion liras.
Increase in Accommodation Capacity
Along with the investments brought to the city, significant growth was also recorded in accommodation facilities and bed capacities. It was announced that the number of operating-certified accommodation facilities increased more than 5 times to reach 2,709, while the total bed capacity increased more than 4 times to the level of 619,644.
New Road Construction for COP31
Within the scope of transportation investments brought to the city, it was stated that approximately 38 kilometers of new road construction was carried out. It was noted that these works include 4 main arterial roads and 12 hotel connection roads, and that road improvement and superstructure constructions have also been completed.
EXPO Area Converted into Congress Center
Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum announced that the EXPO 2016 area has been converted into a permanent fair and congress center for the COP31 Climate Summit to be held between November 9-20. It was stated that close to 100,000 visitors are expected to be hosted in the city during the summit.
