Current Account Balance Statement for July from Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat

In a written statement regarding the July balance of payments statistics, Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat announced that the current account balance recorded a surplus of 36 million dollars in July 2026, bringing the annualized current account deficit to 40.7 billion dollars.

July Data and Annual Deficit

Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat shared the details by making a written statement regarding the July balance of payments statistics. According to the statement, the current account surplus, which was 1.8 billion dollars in July 2025, materialized as a surplus of 36 million dollars in July 2026.

As a result of these developments, the annualized current account deficit stood at 40.7 billion dollars, while the annualized current account balance excluding gold and energy recorded a surplus of 27.8 billion dollars.

Service Exports and Income Items

Service exports increased by 3.2 percent annually in July 2026 compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 124.7 billion dollars.

Additionally, on an annualized basis, travel revenues were recorded at 60.3 billion dollars in July 2026, while transportation revenues stood at 43.7 billion dollars.

Total Exports and Historical Average

As of July 2026, the total export of goods and services increased by 3.3 percent compared to the previous year, rising to 403.2 billion dollars.

Emphasizing that the current account deficit continues to trend below historical averages, Minister Bolat stated that the deficit remained low despite risks in the global conjuncture.

It was stated that the Ministry of Trade resolutely continues its efforts to strengthen exports through export supports, trade diplomacy, market and product diversification.

In line with the high value-added and competitive export vision set by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the country aims to rise to top positions in the world export league.
