According to the statement made by Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan, within the scope of the Medium-Term Program and the National Employment Strategy, a total of 2.1 million additional jobs are planned to be created in the 2027-2029 period, and the unemployment rate is projected to be pulled down to 7.6 percent by 2029.

Changes in Employment and Unemployment Data

Thanks to the steps taken under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, employment increased by 136,000 people in August, reaching 32,507,000 people, and the employment rate became 48.4 percent.

In the same period, the unemployment rate decreased by 0.3 points to 7.8 percent, while the number of unemployed individuals also fell by 106,000, and unemployment data maintained its single-digit course for 40 months.

Future Employment Projections

In line with the targets shared by Minister Işıkhan, it is aimed to create approximately 2.1 million additional jobs in the period covering 2027-2029 and to reduce the unemployment rate to 7.6 percent in 2029.

It was stated that the policies determined to enhance the quality of the workforce and support segments facing difficulties in labor force participation will continue to be implemented with determination in the upcoming period.
