Decision Made to Privatize Bridges and Highways for 30 Years
With a decree published in the Official Gazette, it was announced that two bridges in Istanbul, along with various highways and facilities, have been included in the privatization program.
The Presidential decree regarding the privatization of the 15 July Martyrs and Fatih Sultan Mehmet bridges, managed by the General Directorate of Highways, as well as certain designated highways for a period of 30 years, has entered into force.
Official Gazette Decision
The Presidential decree regarding the privatization of critical bridges and highways under the control of the General Directorate of Highways was made official by being published in today's issue of the Official Gazette.
Roads Included in the Scope
Certain sections and connection roads of the Niğde-Pozantı Highway, Gaziantep Ring Road, and Bursa Ring Road were among the routes included in the scope and program of privatization.
Facilities and Centers
Maintenance, operation, and service facilities located on the relevant highways, as well as trade consolidation and cargo transfer centers, were listed among the assets to be privatized.
Previous Period Decisions
The decree also included numerous important highways and ring roads in the process, such as the Edirne-Istanbul-Ankara, Izmir-Çeşme, and Izmir-Aydın highways, which were previously taken into the privatization scope in 2010.
Duration and Calendar
It was reported that the contract period for the specified assets will be 30 years and all privatization transactions will be completed by December 31, 2031.
