Diplomatic Contacts and Reopening of Pipeline Lower Oil Prices
Expectations of negotiations between the US and Iran, alongside Saudi Arabia resuming shipments on its main pipeline, brought declines to global oil markets.
Growing hopes for a diplomatic solution to the war between the US and Iran, coupled with Saudi Arabia restarting operations on a critical oil pipeline, led oil prices to decline on Wednesday.
Downward Trend in Oil Prices
In global markets, the barrel price of Brent crude fell by 0.07 percent to $99.18, while the barrel price of US West Texas Intermediate crude decreased by 0.39 percent to $90.17.
Talks Between the US and Iran
While US President Donald Trump issued sharp warnings targeting Iran on Tuesday, he announced that US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner had made contact with mediators to end the war.
The possibility of a diplomatic solution laid the groundwork for Brent crude to close below $100 a barrel on Tuesday for the first time since September 8.
Market Analysts' Assessments
KCM Trade Chief Analyst Tim Waterer stated that the global oil supply outlook is evaluated more positively compared to a few weeks ago.
Pointing out that harsh rhetoric continues, Waterer noted that the market prefers to price in the possibility of the meetings in New York taking place.
Saudi Arabia Opens Pipeline
According to information shared by sources close to the matter, the Riyadh administration reactivated operations on the East-West Crude Oil Pipeline on Tuesday.
Saudi Arabia had shut down the pipeline on September 11 following drone attacks and suspended crude oil loadings at the Port of Yanbu.
Alternative Route to the Strait of Hormuz
The East-West Crude Oil Pipeline is a critical alternative transit route used by Saudi Arabia to reduce the risk of dependency on the Strait of Hormuz.
Thanks to this line, approximately 4 million barrels of oil per day can bypass the strait and reach the Port of Yanbu directly.
