DTSO and Mesopotamia Foundation join hands for Kurdish economy dictionary
A new five-language dictionary study covering approximately 5,000 terms in the fields of economy and trade has been launched in Diyarbakır.
The Diyarbakır Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Mesopotamia Foundation signed an official protocol to prepare a five-language Kurdish economy dictionary in order to strengthen economic and trade terminology.
Scope of the Protocol and Signatures
With the agreement signed between the Diyarbakır Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Mesopotamia Foundation, it is aimed to strengthen Kurdish's infrastructure in the field of economy. The protocol was signed by DTSO Board Member Faruk Korkmaz and Mesopotamia Foundation Board of Trustees Chairman Osman Akyıl.
Five Thousand Terms Will Be Prepared
Within the scope of the study, Kurmanji definitions of approximately 5,000 terms in areas such as economy, finance, production, and investment will be prepared. The dictionary aims to provide a permanent reference source for the trade and industry world.
Academic Commission and Workshops
A special commission consisting of academics and language experts will be established within the Mesopotamia Foundation. The preparation process of the project, whose first workshop was held in Van, will be supported by at least five workshops.
Multilingual Common Literature
The commission will determine the Turkish, Persian, Arabic, and English equivalents of the terms alongside their Kurdish counterparts. International literature will be reviewed to establish a common terminology.
Division of Labor Between Institutions
The academic redaction and editorial processes of the dictionary will be carried out by the Mesopotamia Foundation. DTSO, on the other hand, will undertake the organization of expert meetings and logistic processes.
