Economists' September CBRT Interest Rate Decision Expectations Announced
Market experts agree that the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye will maintain current interest rates at its September meeting.
25 economists participating in the expectation survey conducted by AA Finance shared their forecasts regarding the Monetary Policy Committee meeting to be held on September 10. The vast majority of experts predict that the policy rate will be kept constant at 37 percent.
Survey Results and Interest Rate Expectations
While 24 of the 25 economists participating in the survey stated that the policy rate would be maintained at its current level, only one participant indicated an expectation of a 100 basis point cut.
The median of the economists' September MPC decision expectations was calculated at 37 percent, revealing a general trend that there will be no change in interest rates.
Year-End Interest Rate Forecasts
In addition to short-term expectations for the September meeting, economists' year-end policy rate forecasts were also shared.
As a result of the evaluations, the median of the year-end policy rate expectations was determined at 35 percent.
Previous Period and Meeting Calendar
The Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye decided to keep the policy rate constant at 37 percent at the Monetary Policy Committee meeting held in July.
The next MPC meeting, which is closely followed by the markets, will be held on Thursday, September 10.
