Election Debates at the Last Assembly Meeting of the Antalya Chamber of Commerce and Industry

During the last assembly meeting of the term for the Antalya Chamber of Commerce and Industry, fierce debates broke out between lists ahead of the October 18 elections, and current developments in the regional economy were discussed.

Pre-Election Tension Experienced

The final assembly meeting of the 2022–2026 term for the Antalya Chamber of Commerce and Industry was held, where heated arguments erupted between representatives of the red and blue lists ahead of the October 18 elections.

Assembly President Ahmet Öztürk called for the elections to be completed fairly and within ethical rules following the end of his tenure, asking members for their blessing.

Emphasis on Economic Uncertainty

Yusuf Hacısüleyman, Chairman of the Board of Directors, stated that fluctuations in inflation and foreign exchange rates have eliminated predictability for the business world.

Hacısüleyman noted that economic uncertainty has turned into a permanent parameter, stating that companies must update their strategies according to these new conditions.

Tourism and Foreign Trade Targets

Evaluating the macro targets under the Medium-Term Program, Hacısüleyman reported that tourism revenue expectations had been revised and a drop in the number of tourists in Antalya was anticipated.

It was announced that nationwide tourism revenues dropped to 65 billion dollars, while the foreign trade deficit forecast rose to the level of 105 billion dollars.

Environmental and Cultural Projects

In the final section of the meeting, corporate projects carried out by the chamber were shared, and it was announced that waste barriers would be installed at points where streams flow into the sea in Antalya.

Additionally, it was reported that the third exhibition of the 'Another Antalya' project, initiated under the leadership of the late president Ali Bahar, was opened to visitors.
