Eyes turn to the Fed meeting on September 15-16 in the gold and silver markets
While precious metals closed the week with declines, investors' focus locked onto the Fed's upcoming interest rate decision and new economic projections.
As ounce gold and ounce silver finished the week with losses, investors have turned their attention to the Federal Reserve meeting to be held on September 15-16, 2026. Markets are closely monitoring the decisions to be made by the central bank and the new economic projections it will announce.
Weekly Loss in Ounce and Gram Gold
While ounce gold finished the week with a 1.84 percent loss in value at $4,348, gram gold closed with a 1.61 percent loss at 6,786 Turkish liras.
Attempting to rise above $4,400 during the week, ounce gold failed to maintain its position and recorded its third consecutive weekly decline.
Sharp Decline in the Silver Market
Losses on the silver front were observed to be sharper than gold, with ounce silver ending the week down 2.62 percent at around $64.
Gram silver, despite recording a decline of 2.37 percent, managed to hold above the 100 lira level.
Markets Eye the Fed Meeting
The most important agenda item for the new week regarding precious metals will be the Fed's critical meeting to be held on September 15-16.
The statements from the Fed, whose current interest rate range is at 3.50-3.75 percent, will determine global trends through the dollar and bond markets.
Economic Projections Awaited
Not focusing solely on the interest rate decision, markets are also carefully monitoring the Fed's growth, unemployment, and inflation forecasts.
The central bank's new economic projections, including interest rate expectations, carry great importance for the future of precious metals.
When Will the Fed Decision Be Announced
Following the two-day meeting of the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC), the Fed interest rate decision will be announced on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.
With the announcement of the decision, the uncertainty experienced in global markets is expected to be largely clarified.
Expectations Regarding Interest Rate Policy
While there is a possibility that the Fed may keep interest rates steady, it is stated that the current rate could be maintained if Waller's downward trend in inflation continues.
Conversely, Fed Chair Kevin Warsh and some officials point out that inflation remains above target, signaling a tight monetary policy.
Current Gold Selling Prices
According to the latest data in the markets, the gram gold selling price stands at 6,784.88 TL, and the quarter gold selling price is at 11,114.00 TL.
Meanwhile, the ounce gold selling price continues to trade at $4,348.96.
