Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu attended the Groundbreaking Ceremony for the New Domestic and International Terminal Buildings of Samsun Çarşamba International Airport, announcing significant transportation projects and sharing developments in the aviation sector.

Good News of Three New Projects for Samsun

Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that they came to Samsun with three separate pieces of good news at the Groundbreaking Ceremony for the New Domestic and International Terminal Buildings of Samsun Çarşamba International Airport.

According to the announcement, while the foundation of the new terminal building that will increase the capacity of Çarşamba Airport was laid, new tram sets will be put into service, and construction work for the Samsun City Hospital Tram Line will be initiated.

Turkey's Location Advantage

Minister Uraloğlu stated that Turkey is situated at the intersection point of Europe, Asia, and Africa, drawing attention to the advantages offered by this key location.

Emphasizing that the country is right at the center of 67 countries with a population of 1.5 billion within a 4-hour flight distance, Uraloğlu stated that this geographical superiority is utilized effectively in transportation policies.

Global Level Achieved in Aviation

Reminding that the number of airports across Turkey has increased from 26 in 2002 to 58, Minister Uraloğlu reported that the number of domestic and international passengers reached 247 million in 2025.

It was noted that thanks to this growth and investments realized, Turkey has risen to third place in Europe and seventh place in the world in the field of aviation.

Passenger Increase in Samsun

It was announced that the number of passengers using air travel in Samsun was around 175 thousand in 2002, reaching 1 million 640 thousand last year.

This intensive increase made it necessary to implement new infrastructure projects in order to meet the city's growing transportation needs.

Capacity of the New Terminal

It was stated that the new domestic and international terminal building, whose construction has started, will have an area of 29,120 square meters.

It was expressed that upon completion, the airport's annual passenger capacity will be increased from 2 million to 3 million, strengthening the region's transportation infrastructure.

Protocol Members Attending the Ceremony

Samsun Governor Orhan Tavlı and Chairman of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) Planning and Budget Committee and AK Party Samsun Deputy Mehmet Muş attended the groundbreaking ceremony.

Various deputies, Samsun Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Halit Doğan, and other protocol members were also present at the ceremony.
