Strategic Energy Move
The Green Electricity Transmission and Trade Project, which brings together Turkey, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Bulgaria, is among the most important agenda items of the COP31 Summit to be held in Antalya. Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar described the project as the TANAP of electricity at the forum in Baku.
COP31 Summit Target
Minister Bayraktar stated that they desire to move the project to the next stage as soon as possible, aiming to crown this process with an intergovernmental agreement at the COP31 Summit in Antalya.
Nakhchivan Project Works
Initial works on the Turkey-Azerbaijan Nakhchivan Interconnection Project have been completed and the most viable option has been determined. It was noted that the project will mature further technically with the completion of feasibility studies.
Expanding Areas of Cooperation
Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov emphasized that bilateral energy cooperation is targeted to be expanded into the fields of electricity and green energy, alongside oil and natural gas projects.
Three Projects on the Agenda
Minister Bayraktar reported that three projects are being worked on: the electricity transmission line to Turkey via Nakhchivan, the four-way green energy corridor, and the electricity transmission line going to Europe under the Black Sea.
