Highest Level in the History of the Republic Reached in Annualized Exports
In August, exports increased by 8.1% to $23.5 billion, while annualized exports reached a historic peak of $280.3 billion.
According to the August 2026 foreign trade data shared by Trade Minister Ömer Bolat, monthly exports increased by 8.1% compared to the same period of the previous year, rising to $23.5 billion and going on record as the highest August figure in the history of the Republic.
Historic Record Level in Exports
According to statements by Trade Minister Ömer Bolat, exports realized in August increased by 8.1% compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching $23.5 billion and going on record as the highest August export figure to date.
While total exports in the eight-month period covering January and August came in at the $185 billion level, the annualized export figure reached $280.3 billion, seeing the highest level in the history of the Republic.
Growth and National Income Data
Among the macroeconomic indicators shared at the press conference, Turkey's growth for the second quarter of 2026 was announced as 2.3%, and growth for the first half of the year as 2.5%.
Additionally, it was officially announced that Turkey's total national income exceeded $1 trillion 706 billion by the end of the first half of the year.
Foreign Trade Deficit and Sectoral Distribution
The foreign trade deficit across the month of August materialized as $5.2 billion, and this trend in the foreign trade balance is closely monitored by the economic administration.
According to the information shared by Turkish Exporters Assembly President Mustafa Gültepe, exports in 17 different sectors registered an increase in August, while 9 sectors experienced a decline.
