Identification of uncultivated agricultural lands completed and the leasing process has begun
The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has started leasing announcements to bring lands left fallow for two years back into production.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has completed the identification efforts for the 2026 production year aimed at bringing agricultural lands left uncultivated for two consecutive years across Turkey back into production, officially launching the leasing announcement process.
Identification efforts completed
A significant milestone has been reached in efforts to bring agricultural lands left uncultivated for two consecutive years across Turkey back into production, and the identification process planned for the 2026 production year has been successfully completed. As a result of these efforts conducted by the Ministry, the lands to be evaluated within the scope of leasing have been determined and the announcement process has officially begun.
Objectives of the leasing process
The implementation aims to reintegrate lands that have remained outside of agricultural production due to various reasons such as ownership shares, property disputes, migration waves, and the abandonment of agricultural activities back into the economy. Rental requests for finalized lands will be evaluated and concluded by the respective Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry.
Ownership and rental principles
In this implemented practice, there will be no change of ownership regarding the lands. Agricultural lands clearly determined to have been uncultivated for two consecutive years will be leased on a seasonal basis exclusively to be utilized for agricultural production activities. The rental fees determined for the land will be paid directly to the owner.
Production and planning details
Agricultural activities carried out on the leased lands will be registered in the Farmer Registration System, and production activities conducted in these areas will be evaluated within the scope of agricultural production planning. Tenants will strictly not be allowed to use the lands for other purposes and cannot alter the characteristics of the lands.
