The General Directorate of Food and Control of the Ministry of Agriculture announced that the use of three pesticides will be phased out according to a schedule, following evaluations of human and environmental health as well as approval statuses in the European Union.

Reasons for the Ministry's Decision

According to the shared statement by the General Directorate of Food and Control of the Ministry of Agriculture, the effects of plant protection products on human and environmental health are regularly monitored in line with scientific developments and international evaluations.

Active Ingredients Examined

As a result of the evaluations, the risks posed by the active ingredients thiophanate methyl, indoxacarb, and phosmet in terms of human health and the environment, as well as their approval statuses in the European Union, were discussed in detail.

Availability of Alternative Products

A new decision was made taking into account the availability of sufficient alternative products licensed for the areas of use of the plant protection products containing the active ingredients in question.

Schedule and Prohibition Dates

In accordance with the decision taken, the actual importation of these products will be completely terminated as of November 13, 2026, their manufacture as of December 18, 2026, and their final use as of December 31, 2027.
