According to official statements and initial data, the total amount of seafood doubled during the initial one-week period from September 1 to 7.

Massive Rise in Bonito Supply

Looking at the data from the Gürpınar Seafood Market for September 1-7, 2026, the most striking and notable surge of the season occurred in the bonito species.

Remaining at quite low levels during the first week of last year, the quantity of bonito rose to 903,952 kilograms this season with a massive increase.

Anchovy and Other Fish Distribution

The quantity of anchovy on the display counters during the first week of the past season showed an increase, succeeding in achieving a significant market share in the overall distribution.

Anchovy was recorded as the second most traded species at the market after bonito, supporting the variety on the counters.
