Data for the week of September 11 released by the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey revealed the latest activity in financial markets. According to data adjusted for parity effects, foreign exchange deposits experienced a strong increase, while non-resident foreign investors engaged in buying transactions in the stock and bond markets.

Strong Increase in Foreign Exchange Deposits

According to data announced by the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey, foreign exchange deposits adjusted for parity effects increased by 1 billion 802 million dollars in the week ending September 11.

In the previous week, a decrease of 277 million dollars had been recorded in foreign exchange deposits. This recent increase caught the attention of the markets.

Distribution Between Corporate and Individual Accounts

When looking at the details of the foreign exchange deposit increase in the latest week, it was observed that the rise stemmed largely from the corporate side.

It was reported that 7 million dollars of the said increase consisted of individuals, while the vast majority, amounting to 1 billion 795 million dollars, originated from corporate entities.

Stock Purchases by Foreign Investors

The transactions of non-resident investors during the same period also became clear, with foreigners making net stock purchases worth 277.7 million dollars in the week of September 11.

In the previous week, foreign investors had carried out sales worth 647.6 million dollars, which was recorded as the strongest outflow from the stock market since June.

Transactions in the Bond Market

In addition to stock purchases, foreign investors showed activity in the debt instruments market, purchasing bonds worth 160 million dollars last week.

In the previous week, foreign investors' bond purchase amount was at the level of 150 million dollars, indicating that investments followed a stable course.
