Market Expectations and Revisions
Markets had expected claims to reach the 208,000 level for this period. Meanwhile, the previous week's claims data was revised from 206,000 to 207,000.
Average and Continuing Claims
The 4-week moving average of unemployment insurance claims increased by 1,250 to 205,500. Additionally, continuing unemployment claims for the week ending August 15 decreased by 18,000 to 1,778,000.
