Member countries of the Organization of Turkic States are preparing to establish the Simplified Customs Corridor system to facilitate and accelerate trade along the Middle Corridor stretching from China to Europe.

Customs Systems Are Being Integrated

Within the scope of the prepared Simplified Customs Corridor project, the customs systems of member countries will be linked together.

The information regarding cargo departing from one country will be transmitted in advance to the other country through which transit will occur.

Waiting Times at Border Gates Will Decrease

Necessary checks will be able to be performed before vehicles arrive at the border gate, and suspicious cargo can be identified in advance.

Transit processes will be accelerated by preventing the repetition of the same procedures at each border crossing.

Documents Are Being Transferred to Electronic Environment

Another pillar of the work consists of transferring transport and customs documents entirely to the electronic environment.

Customs declarations showing the type, quantity, and parties of the cargo will be shared among the countries.

International Documents Are Being Digitalized

Efforts are underway to issue transport waybills and international road transit permits electronically.

The need for drivers to resubmit the same information at each border will be significantly reduced.

Turkey's Kapıkule Practices

Turkey's practices at the Kapıkule border gate were introduced this year to officials coming from other OTS countries.

Applications made by exporters to different institutions will also be conducted through a single system.

Upcoming Meeting and Developments

The 12th Meeting of the Heads of Customs Administrations, planned to be held in Kyrgyzstan this month, will take place.

Concrete steps to be taken toward the development of the joint system are expected to be discussed at the meeting.
