The rises in Brent crude oil and fuel prices following the US-Iran war have also been reflected in fuel prices in Turkey. According to information shared by industry sources, the sliding scale system implemented to limit the impact of price hikes will end for gasoline as of October 1.
Increase in Special Consumption Tax
The SCT amount, which is currently applied as 4.43 TL per liter of gasoline, is expected to rise to 14.83 TL on October 1. This change represents an SCT increase of 10.40 TL per liter.
VAT Impact and Total Increase
Along with the effect of this SCT increase on Value Added Tax (VAT), a total price hike of 12.48 TL is on the agenda. Sources note that this situation could be the largest single-instance increase that can be applied.
Status of Pump Prices
In the absence of a new regulation, this increase is expected to be reflected directly in pump prices. If this scenario materializes, the price per liter of gasoline will surpass the 90 TL level.

Whether the increase in gasoline will be implemented gradually depends on whether a new decision is made. It is stated that if a new sliding scale decision is made, similar to the one for diesel, the SCT increase could be implemented gradually.
