Full Electrification from Industry to Transportation
The main backbone of the strategy document is formed by the electrification move that will fundamentally transform consumption habits. It is targeted to increase the share of electrification in final energy consumption to 35 percent by 2035.
It is planned that the vast majority of vehicles added to road transportation until 2040 will be fully electric and that digitization will be implemented in the transmission grid to meet transportation demand.
Five Main Pillars of the Strategy
In the second planning period for renewable resources, its share in the primary energy portfolio will be increased with approximately 20 billion dollars of new investments. Nuclear energy will be the fundamental base-load element in achieving the carbon-neutral target.
Structural Transformation in Public Energy Companies
TPAO, BOTAŞ, Eti Maden, EÜAŞ, and TEİAŞ will be endowed with flexible and technological financial structures capable of operating in international markets.
The total hydrocarbon production of Turkish Petroleum Corporation will be increased once the Sakarya Gas Field transitions to full-phase production.
Roadmap Ahead of COP31
The Vision 2040 action plan will be presented as an official technical document ahead of the 31st United Nations Climate Change Conference, which Turkey will host in Antalya in November 2026.
