Minister Şimşek's PISA 2025 Evaluation and Emphasis on Education

Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek stated in a statement regarding the PISA 2025 results that Turkey has raised its rankings in all areas and exceeded the OECD average in science and reading skills.

Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek evaluated the PISA 2025 results in a statement on his social media account. It was announced that Turkey rose by 15 places in science, 18 places in reading skills, and 11 places in mathematics among 91 countries.

Surpassing the OECD Average

According to the released data, Turkey successfully surpassed the OECD average in science and reading skills. It became the country that increased its scores the most among OECD countries across all three areas compared to 2022.

Furthermore, Turkey holds the distinction of being the only OECD member to continuously increase its performance in all three core areas over the last 10-year period.

Emphasis on Education Policies and Budget

Minister Mehmet Şimşek emphasized that the highest share in the 2026 budget, at 15.3 percent, was allocated to education, stating that the quality of human capital, one of the fundamental elements of development, will be strengthened.
