Istanbul Cereals, Pulses, Oil Seeds and Products Exporters' Association (İHBİR) President Kazım Taycı stated that food exports to the US have reached approximately $900 million, with a target to increase this to $2 billion over the next 10-year period.

New Targets for the US Market

Turkey's food exports to the United States have reached the level of $900 million. Having recorded double-digit growth over the past 10 years, this market is targeted to reach $2 billion in the next decade.

İHBİR President Kazım Taycı stated that the US has risen to second place in the association's exports and that America will always remain among the most important markets.

Sectoral Gathering in Miami

To evaluate the food potential of the United States, approximately 50 companies from Turkey participated in the Americas Food & Beverage Show 2026 held in Miami.

At the fair, which was also attended by Turkey's Ambassador to Washington Sedat Önal, more than 10,000 professional visitors from over 100 countries were hosted, and Turkish companies provided a strong representation.

Branding and Moving Away from Contract Manufacturing

Stating that Turkish companies were predominantly contract manufacturers in the past, Taycı emphasized that they have now started to take their place with their own brands in major chains such as Walmart, Costco, Publix, and CVS.

It was noted that the "Made in Türkiye" label creates a stronger brand perception in the food sector day by day and that products are increasingly preferred.

Compensation of Gulf Losses with Alternative Markets

Shipment difficulties experienced in Gulf markets due to developments around the Strait of Hormuz and increases in freight prices are being compensated with alternative markets.

In addition to America, exporters are focusing on markets such as the Far East, Europe, Central Asia, North Africa, and Syria, providing a wide country diversity.

2026 Export Expectations

During a period of rising protectionist policies in global trade, Turkey's food exports are expected to follow a course close to its 2025 performance.

While an export volume between $12.4 billion and $12.8 billion is foreseen for the end of 2026, the focus on developed and economically stable markets continues.
