Sales declined in the second-hand car market and new regulations are demanded
While second-hand car sales showed a decline in July compared to the same period of last year, sector representatives offered various solution proposals.
As second-hand car sales entered the second half of the year with a decline, Aydın Erkoç, President of the Motor Vehicle Dealers Federation, shared the problems experienced by the sector and expectations for solutions.

Sales in the second-hand car market entered the second half of the year with a decline. In July, second-hand car sales decreased by 13.47 percent compared to the same month of last year, falling to 588,504 units.
Seven-Month Market Status
During the seven-month period of the year, a total of 4 million 41 thousand 614 cars changed hands. In this process, the market experienced an overall contraction of 2.79 percent.
Factors Pressuring the Market
High interest rates, difficulties in accessing credit, and campaigns on zero-kilometer cars were among the main factors negatively pressuring the second-hand market.
Regulation Demands from the Sector
Aydın Erkoç, President of the Motor Vehicle Dealers Federation, conveyed the problems of the sector and demanded that the 6-month and 6,000-kilometer restriction be reviewed again.
Financing and Standard Expectations
Erkoç requested that access to financing be facilitated, a common standard be established in expertise services, sales processes be digitalized, and transparency be ensured on listing websites.
