SCT regulation in fuel: Gradual system introduced for gasoline
With the end of the sliding scale system, new tax regulations have been implemented in fuel prices.
Following the termination of the sliding scale system applied to fuel, a new Special Consumption Tax (SCT) regulation was introduced with a Presidential Decree published in the Official Gazette.
Sliding Scale Ended
The sliding scale system, which was implemented to prevent global fluctuations and exchange rate movements in fuel prices from being reflected directly onto consumers, has come to an end.
The Presidential Decree regarding the matter has been published in the Official Gazette and entered into force.
Gradual SCT Increase on Gasoline
In order to combat inflation and prevent sudden price shocks in the market, the tax increase on gasoline was divided across months.
Thanks to this model, a portion of the expected massive price increase in gasoline was prevented.
LPG and Diesel Prices
By returning to the system in place prior to the sliding scale for LPG, the SCT amount per kilogram was increased.
As a result of the regulations made, price hikes were also reflected in diesel.
Current Fuel Prices
Following the new SCT regulations, current fuel pump prices by province have been determined.
Gasoline, diesel, and LPG prices have been updated in the provinces of Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Adana, and Bitlis.
