Iran's Persian Gulf Waterway Administration announced that three oil tankers targeted in the Strait of Hormuz in recent days are linked to the United Arab Emirates.

Developments in the Strait of Hormuz

The Persian Gulf Waterway Administration, established by Iran to regulate transits in the Strait of Hormuz, provided a new briefing regarding the attacks in the region.

In the official statement, the identities and affiliations of the ships targeted in the strategic waterway in recent days were shared with the public.

Targeted Tankers

The statement noted that the ships targeted in the Strait of Hormuz in recent days are three oil tankers named AL RUWAIS, SINBAD, and MERSIN PROSPERITY.

It has been clarified by the competent authorities that all of the aforementioned tankers are linked to the United Arab Emirates.

Reason for Blacklisting

The relevant administration stated that the named tankers were blacklisted two months ago on the grounds that they attempted to transit without Iran's approval.

It was stated that these vessels, which did not comply with the rules determined by the Tehran administration, had previously attempted unauthorized transits.

Attack off the Coast of Oman

The semi-official Fars News Agency reported that a supertanker with a capacity to carry 2.5 million barrels of oil was targeted.

It was recorded that the supertanker in question was hit 8 kilometers off the coast of Oman while trying to use an alternative route, and a fire broke out on the tanker following the attack.

International Reports and Regional Blockade

United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations had announced in a statement on September 29 that two oil tankers and an LNG tanker had been hit.

Following the war that began with the attacks by the US and Israel on Iran on February 28, the naval blockade imposed by the US has increased tension in the region.

Iran's Transit Policy

The Tehran administration has largely restricted transits in the Strait of Hormuz due to the naval blockade it has been subjected to.

Iranian authorities continue to resolutely target all vessels attempting unauthorized transits.
