Services Production Index Rose Annually and Monthly in July
In the July 2026 period, production in the services sector increased by 3 percent annually, while the construction sector experienced a decline of 4.7 percent.
According to the July 2026 production index data announced by the Turkish Statistical Institute, the services production index showed an annual increase, while the contraction in the construction sector drew attention.
Changes in the Services Production Index
According to the released data, the services production index recorded an increase of 3 percent in July compared to the same period of the previous year. The index rose by 1 percent compared to the previous month.
Sub-Breakdowns of the Services Sector
When sub-sectors are examined, transportation and storage services grew by 2.8 percent, and accommodation and food services by 5.3 percent on an annual basis.
Information and communication services registered an increase of 7.9 percent, and professional, scientific, and technical services grew by 5.5 percent.
Areas of Decline in the Services Sector
Despite the general upward trend, declines were observed in certain service sub-breakdowns. Real estate services decreased by 5.2 percent, and administrative-support services by 3.3 percent.
Construction Production Index Data
The construction production index for the same period declined by 4.7 percent on an annual basis. Despite this, the construction sector index recorded a monthly increase of 1.1 percent.
Condition of Construction Sub-Sectors
Among construction sub-sectors on an annual basis, the building construction sector index decreased by 8 percent, and specialized construction activities sector index decreased by 4.9 percent.
In contrast, a significant annual increase of 14 percent occurred in the civil engineering construction sector index.
