Some Rail Systems Will Be Free on August 30 Victory Day
By presidential decree, travel will be free on certain rail system lines on August 30.
According to the decree signed by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, certain critical rail system and metro lines across Turkey will provide free service to citizens on the occasion of August 30 Victory Day.
Free Transportation Decision
The decree numbered 11643, dated August 26, 2026, was published in the Official Gazette with the signature of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Within the scope of this decision, it was resolved to provide certain conveniences in public transportation on August 30 Victory Day.
Lines Within the Scope
In line with the decision, Marmaray, Başkentray, and İZBAN lines will carry passengers free of charge on Sunday, August 30, 2026. Thus, critical rail networks in the three major cities can be used without cost during the holiday.
Additional Rail Systems
The free travel opportunity will not be limited to these lines only and will also cover the Sirkeci-Kazlıçeşme Rail System Line and the Gayrettepe-Istanbul Airport-Halkalı Metro Line in Istanbul.
Details of the Legal Regulation
All passengers benefiting from the specified lines will be able to travel by being exempt from the provision in the first paragraph of article 1 of the Law No. 4736 dated January 8, 2002.
