The Ministry of Trade has initiated a period of strict inspection regarding discounted sales advertisements in order to protect consumers' economic interests and prevent deceptive discounts. Within the scope of the new regulation that entered into force on August 1, 2026, the lowest price of the last 10 days will be taken as the basis for the price before the discount.

Scope of the New Regulation

The Ministry of Trade continues its examinations and inspections regarding discounted sales advertisements in order to protect the economic interests of consumers. With the amendments made in the Regulation on Commercial Advertising and Unfair Commercial Practices, discount advertisements are required to be truthful, clear, and understandable.

Ten-Day Price Rule

With the new regulation, the lowest price applied within the last 10 days before the start date of the discounted sale will be taken as the basis as the price before the discount. By this means, it is aimed to prevent the creation of a high discount perception through artificial price increases.

Conditional Sales and Digital Media

Inspections will cover not only direct discounts but also conditional sales campaigns. In addition, artificial intelligence advertisements and commercial promotions by social media influencers are also subjected to the new rules.

Administrative Sanctions

In the inspections carried out by the Advertising Board, advertising suspension penalties and administrative fines in varying amounts depending on the medium are applied to practices found to be contrary to the legislation.
