Three-Month Salt Harvest Season Begins as Waters Recede in Lake Tuz
With the decrease of water levels in the region that meets a significant portion of Turkey's salt requirement, the annual crystallization process and collection works have gained momentum.
Located in the Central Anatolia Region, Lake Tuz has officially started its intensive three-month salt harvest season as waters have receded in the lake, which supplies a large portion of the country's salt needs.

Situated in the heart of Central Anatolia, Lake Tuz is located in a closed basin where the provinces of Ankara, Konya, and Aksaray intersect.

Lake Tuz continues to hold a strategic and extremely important role in Turkey's salt production since the early 1800s.
Operation of the Harvest Process
With the receding of water in the pools, the crystallized salt layer at the bottom of the lake emerges to the surface and preparations are completed.
Mechanical Collection Operations
The salts that emerge to the surface are scraped by specially designed salt-cutting machines and loaded onto trucks.
Shipment to Factories
The raw salts loaded onto trucks are transported to collection areas for storage or directly to factories for processing.
