Total Deposits in the Banking Sector Increased by 110.4 Billion Liras
According to data from the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey, the total deposit amount in the banking sector recorded a significant increase in the week ending September 25.
According to weekly money and banking statistics announced by the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey, total deposits in the banking sector increased by 110 billion 384 million 754 thousand liras in the week ending September 25, reaching 34 trillion 2 billion 178 million 176 thousand liras.
Total Deposits and Rate of Change
According to data from the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey, total deposits in the banking sector recorded an increase of 0.33 percent in the week ending September 25. With this increase, total deposits rose from 33 trillion 891 billion 793 million 422 thousand liras to 34 trillion 2 billion 178 million 176 thousand liras.
Turkish Lira and Foreign Currency Deposits
During the same period, Turkish lira-denominated deposits in banks increased by 0.80 percent, reaching a level of 18 trillion 658 billion 94 million 264 thousand liras. Foreign currency-denominated deposits, on the other hand, increased by 0.07 percent to 11 trillion 204 billion 527 million 913 thousand liras.
Foreign Currency Accounts of Residents
While total foreign currency deposits in banks stood at 269 billion 555 million dollars last week, 230 billion 116 million dollars of this amount was concentrated in the accounts of residents within the country.
Data Adjusted for Parity Effects
Considering data adjusted for parity effects in the total foreign currency deposits of domestic residents, an increase of 1 billion 342 million dollars was observed as of September 25.
Developments in Consumer Loans
Consumer loans of domestic residents in the banking sector showed an increase of 0.82 percent last week, rising to 6 trillion 941 billion 595 million 414 thousand liras.
Distribution of Loan Types
Out of the mentioned consumer loans, 838 billion 83 million 105 thousand liras consisted of housing loans, 42 billion 235 million 537 thousand liras of vehicle loans, 2 trillion 597 billion 728 million 207 thousand liras of personal finance loans, and 3 trillion 463 billion 548 million 565 thousand liras of individual credit cards.
Total Loan Volume Increase
The total loan volume of the banking sector, including the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey, recorded an increase of 110 billion 884 million 218 thousand liras in the week ending September 25. With this rise, the total loan volume increased from 27 trillion 531 billion 396 million 689 thousand liras to 27 trillion 642 billion 280 million 907 thousand liras.
