Trade Minister Ömer Bolat carried out a series of official contacts in Italy's capital Rome to evaluate economic relations, mutual investments, and Turkey-European Union relations.
In this context, Minister Bolat came together with Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani to discuss bilateral cooperation opportunities.
Trade Volume and Investment Figures
While it was stated that the total trade volume between Turkey and Italy has exceeded 30 billion dollars, the medium-term foreign trade volume target between the two countries was expressed as 40 billion dollars.
It was reported that 1,645 Italian firms with over 4 billion dollars of investments operate in Turkey, while Turkish firms' investments in Italy are at around 1 billion dollar level.
Meeting with Italian Company Executives
Following his meetings, Minister Bolat came together with top executives of approximately 15 Italian companies with investments in Turkey to evaluate new investment opportunities.
European Union and Sectoral Expectations
During the contacts, the European Union's "Made in EU" approach and expectations in the automotive sector were also addressed, and support was requested from Italy on these issues.
