U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping held a high-level meeting at the White House to discuss trade, artificial intelligence, and the Iran war.

U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping met on Thursday at the White House, accompanied by military ceremonies and a lavish banquet.

While military units participated in the welcoming ceremony, two B-1 bombers also conducted a flyover, and the leaders were greeted with a red carpet.

Trade Truce Extended

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced on Wednesday evening that the U.S. and China agreed to extend the temporary trade truce by two months, continuing it until January 10.

Thanks to this agreement, U.S. tariffs are being kept low, while Beijing has suspended export controls on rare earth elements and critical minerals.

Main Agenda Items of the Meeting

Trade balance, security, technology, and artificial intelligence were among the priority topics in the high-level discussions held by the leaders.

Additionally, U.S. President Trump explicitly confirmed that the Iran war would also be addressed in the talks with the Chinese leader.

Bilateral Contacts and State Banquet

Chinese leader Xi Jinping arrived at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland on Wednesday evening and was welcomed by U.S. President Trump.

While a state banquet was hosted in the East Room of the White House with the participation of the leaders and their spouses, events such as a private tea meeting and a National Archives tour were also planned.
