Turkey's Exports to European Union Countries Increased in the First Eight Months of the Year
Turkey's exports to EU countries in the January-August period reached 71 billion 788.5 million dollars, an increase of 3.6 percent.
According to data from the Turkish Exporters Assembly, Turkey's exports to European Union countries in the January-August period increased by 3.6 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, rising to 71 billion 788.5 million dollars.
Germany Ranked First
In the January-August period, Germany was the top destination for exports from Turkey among EU countries, with 13 billion 576 million 381 thousand dollars, and foreign sales to this country increased by 3.8 percent.
Germany was followed by Italy with 8 billion 561 million 640 thousand dollars, Spain with 7 billion 238 million 906 thousand dollars, France with 6 billion 925 million 832 thousand dollars, and Romania with 4 billion 891 million 962 thousand dollars.
Highest Proportional Increase in Malta
Malta was the country with the highest proportional increase in exports among EU countries, with foreign sales to this country surging by 107 percent to reach 671 million 566 thousand dollars.
Malta was followed by Slovakia with a 32.8 percent increase, Finland with 25.3 percent, Bulgaria with 17 percent, and Austria with 14.4 percent.
Automotive Sector Stood Out
During the period in question, the automotive industry ranked first in exports to EU countries with an amount of 20 billion 60.7 million dollars, and the sector's foreign sales increased by 4.5 percent.
The automotive sector was followed by chemicals and chemical products with 9 billion 63 million dollars, and ready-to-wear and apparel sectors with 6 billion 541.7 million dollars.
Most Exports Made from Istanbul
Istanbul took the largest share in Turkey's exports to the 27 EU countries during the January-August period, with 25 billion 440 million dollars.
Istanbul was followed by Kocaeli with 10 billion 110 million dollars, Bursa with 8 billion 305 million dollars, Ankara with 4 billion 911 million dollars, and Izmir with 4 billion 791 million dollars.
