Turkey's Greenhouse Size Targets Under Cover Announced

The management of the Greenhouse Construction, Hardware, Equipment Manufacturers and Exporters Association visited the Aegean Plastics Manufacturers Association to discuss inter-sectoral cooperation opportunities and agricultural production targets.

The Antalya-based SERKONDER delegation visited EGEPLASDER to evaluate common working areas of the agricultural and plastics sectors.
The Stakeholder Role of the Plastics Sector
EGEPLASDER President Şener Gençer stated that the Turkish plastics sector is among the most important stakeholders for greenhouse producers.
Status of Organized Agricultural Zones
It was announced that with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, 46 organized agricultural zones have gained legal entity status and production has started in 15 out of 20 OZs whose infrastructure has been completed.
New Targets in Greenhouse Size
It was stated that Turkey's current greenhouse size under cover has reached 800 thousand decares, and it is targeted to increase this figure to 1 million decares with OZ projects.
Future Potential and Projects
It was noted that a total of 61 organized agricultural zones are planned in 42 provinces across the country, and the potential is 5 million decares.
Technological Competence and Food Security
It was emphasized that the plastics sector has the technological infrastructure to produce at the standards demanded by greenhouse producers.
Strategic Importance of Greenhouse Investments
SERKONDER President Ufuk Salih Uslu stated that greenhouse investments are at the intersection of technology, energy, logistics, export, and food security.
