Turkish Airlines Signs Agreement with Boeing for Purchase of 150 Aircraft

Turkish Airlines (THY) has signed an agreement with Boeing to purchase a total of 150 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, comprising 100 firm orders and 50 options. Finalized in the presence of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, this agreement marks THY's largest single-aisle aircraft order with Boeing to date.

Fleet Expansion Strategy and Order Details

Signed as a result of negotiations conducted by THY since 2025, the agreement aims to strengthen the company's short- and medium-haul flight network. Within the scope of the order, 100 Boeing 737-8 aircraft have been placed as firm orders, while an option for an additional 50 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft is included.

The agreement also provides THY with the option to transition to the Boeing 737-10 model, the largest member of the 737 MAX family. Through this, the company aims to plan its fleet capacity more flexibly according to passenger demand and operational needs across its flight network.

Efficiency and Current Fleet Structure

The new aircraft are expected to contribute to THY's operations, particularly on high-demand domestic and international routes. A 20 percent reduction in fuel consumption and emissions provided by the Boeing 737-8 model will support the company's sustainability and operational efficiency goals.

The fleets of THY and AJet currently feature more than 200 Boeing aircraft, including 737 MAX, 737 Next-Generation, 787 Dreamliner, 777, and 777 Freighter models. The new order further reinforces the cooperation between the two companies following the order for 75 787 Dreamliners placed in 2025.

Strategic Cooperation in the Aviation Ecosystem

In addition to the aircraft order, THY and Boeing continue their long-term partnership regarding Turkey's aviation ecosystem. Signing a strategic memorandum of understanding in the area of industrial participation this year, the two companies established a cooperation framework under the headings of Competency Development, Value Creation, and Business Opportunities.

Within this scope, it is aimed to share technology and know-how, support the development of human resources, and strengthen efforts in sustainability. This step also demonstrates Boeing's commitment to supporting Turkey's aviation sector.

Executive Statements

Turkish Airlines Chairman of the Board and Executive Committee Murat Şeker stated that the new Boeing 737 MAX aircraft will bring higher efficiency and flexibility to operations, expressing that the agreement is an important step in their fleet expansion strategy.

Boeing Commercial Airplanes President and CEO Stephanie Pope emphasized that this order reflects the mutual trust shaping the long-standing cooperation with THY, stating that they are proud to support Turkey's aviation ecosystem.
