According to data announced by the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey, the average 1-3 month Turkish Lira deposit interest rate in the banking sector fell to 36.9% in the week ending September 25, reaching its lowest level in three years.

Downward Trend in Deposit Interest Rates

According to the latest data announced by the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey, a noticeable decline was recorded in Turkish Lira deposit interest rates within the banking sector. The average 1-3 month TL deposit interest rate dropped to 36.9% in the week ending September 25. With this development, interest rates saw their lowest level in the last three years.

Changes Since the Beginning of the Year

The average 1-3 month TL deposit interest rate, which hovered around 50% at the beginning of 2025, showed a gradual decrease over the intervening period. This rate declined to 36.9% as of the end of September 2026.

Funding Cost and Loan Interest Rates

In the same week, the Central Bank's Weighted Average Funding Cost followed a parallel course and materialized at 36.9%. Excluding Overdraft Accounts and commercial credit cards, commercial loan interest rates maintained their horizontal trend at the level of 39.9%.
