US August Inflation Data Released in Line with Expectations
The US Consumer Price Index, closely watched by the markets, increased by 0.4 percent monthly and 3.4 percent annually in August.
While the eagerly awaited August inflation data in the US was released, the CPI increased by 0.4 percent monthly and 3.4 percent annually, presenting a picture consistent with market expectations.
Inflation Rates Met Expectations
The Consumer Price Index data for August in the US has become official and materialized in parallel with market forecasts. Accordingly, the CPI recorded an increase of 0.4 percent on a monthly basis and 3.4 percent on an annual basis in August.
In July, the previous month, the CPI had shown an increase of 0.1 percent on a monthly basis. These latest released rates fully met economists' expectations.
Changes in Core Inflation
Annual core inflation, excluding energy and food items, dropped from 2.5 percent to 2.4 percent. In the same period, monthly core inflation rose from 0.2 percent to 0.3 percent.
Fed's Upcoming Meeting
This critical inflation data released holds great importance ahead of the US Federal Reserve's monetary policy meeting to be held next week on September 15-16.
