The US Department of Treasury announced its decision to impose sanctions on the Russia-linked shadow banking network A7, established to bypass sanctions. The statement emphasized that this network masked illegal payments as ordinary commercial transactions.
FinCEN and OFAC Steps
While the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network proposed a rule to ban fund transfers involving A7's sub-agents, the Office of Foreign Assets Control designated the network as an international criminal organization and added it to the list.
