US stocks rise near their record after the latest jobs report eases worries about inflation

US stocks approached record levels as the latest employment data released eased concerns that the economy might be overheating and inflation worsening. Employment figures coming in weaker than expected also significantly lowered expectations for a Federal Reserve interest rate hike.

General Rise in Stock Markets

US stocks climbed to all-time highs following the latest employment report released on Friday. The S&P 500 index recorded an increase of 0.7 percent.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average showed an increase of 250 points, while the Nasdaq composite index gained 1.2 percent in value.

Effects of Employment Data

According to government data, employers added a net 29,000 jobs last month; this figure remained below economists' expectations.

This data allayed concerns that the economy could further fuel inflation and gave the markets a breath of relief.

Interest Rate Hike Expectations

The weak data caused traders to significantly scale back their bets regarding the Central Bank raising interest rates at the upcoming meeting.

According to CME Group data, investors have now reduced the probability of an interest rate hike from 64 percent a week ago to below 23 percent.

Bond and Oil Markets

The retreat in interest rate hike expectations helped the bond market calm down, and the yield on the 10-year Treasury note declined.

Oil prices, on the other hand, continued their course by following a volatile trend due to uncertainties regarding the war in Iran.

Latest Status in Company Shares

Tesla shares rallied by 4.7 percent after achieving 486,532 vehicle deliveries in the last quarter that exceeded expectations.

Nvidia rose by 1.3 percent, while Nike lost 3.6 percent in value following its weak earnings report and low profit forecast.
