Weekly Market Performance: BIST 100 and Gold Lost Value

While Borsa Istanbul, gold, and the euro closed the week with losses, foreign exchange rates experienced a limited increase. Funds also completed the week in negative territory.

On Borsa Istanbul, the BIST 100 index, gold, and the euro completed the week with losses, while the US dollar/Turkish lira recorded a limited increase. A decline was also observed in investment funds.

Course of the BIST 100 Index

The BIST 100 index saw a weekly low of 11,926.04 and a high of 12,750.45 points during the week.

Compared to the previous week's close, the index suffered a loss of 4.88 percent, closing the week at 12,270.18 points.

Changes in Gold Prices

The gram selling price of 24-carat refined gold traded in the Grand Bazaar decreased by 1.53 percent down to 6,613 liras.

The selling price of Republic gold dropped by 1.39 percent to 43,250 liras, while the selling price of quarter gold fell by 1.41 percent to 10,860 liras.

Status of Exchange Rates

The US dollar posted a weekly gain of 0.14 percent, rising to 49.0350 liras.

The euro completed the week at the level of 55.4680 liras with a drop of 0.69 percent.

Weekly Performance of Funds

Investment funds generally closed the week with a loss of 1.86 percent, and pension funds with a loss of 0.96 percent.

When examined on a categorical basis, the highest return of the week was recorded in Money Market Funds with a rate of 0.64 percent.
