Work on the Çeşmeli-Kızkalesi Motorway reaches 98 percent completion
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that work on the Çeşmeli-Kızkalesi Section of the Çeşmeli-Erdemli-Silifke-Taşucu Motorway has reached the final stage.
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that a physical realization rate of 98 percent has been achieved in the construction works on the Çeşmeli-Kızkalesi Section of the Çeşmeli-Erdemli-Silifke-Taşucu Motorway.
Technical Details and Length of the Project
The Çeşmeli-Kızkalesi Section has a total length of 52 kilometers, consisting of a 41-kilometer motorway and an 11-kilometer connection road.
Within the scope of the project, 6 junctions, 7 tunnels with a total length of 10,116 meters, and 5 viaducts with a length of 1,633 meters are being constructed.
Engineering Structures and Other Facilities
The route also includes 33 bridges and overpasses with a length of 2,734 meters, and 34 underpasses with a length of 3,655 meters.
The project features 74 culverts with a total length of 10,108 meters, 2 motorway service facilities, one maintenance and operation center, and one tunnel operation center.
Major Reduction in Travel Time
It is planned to divert a significant portion of the transit traffic on the existing state road to the motorway.
In this way, it is targeted to reduce the travel time, which reaches up to 2.5 hours particularly during the summer months, down to 18 minutes.
Economic and Environmental Benefits
The project is projected to save 2.7 billion liras annually in time and 338 million liras in fuel.
While providing a total savings of 3 billion 38 million liras, it is also planned to reduce carbon emissions by 17,100 tons per year.
Transportation and Regional Integration
Mersin's tourism regions will be connected to the operational Mersin-Adana-Gaziantep Motorway, ensuring high-standard transportation.
It will be possible for transit traffic on the D400 Antalya-Mersin and D715 Konya-Mersin state roads to reach the motorway without entering city centers.
Strategic and Airport Connection
The motorway will facilitate access to Çukurova International Airport, supporting tourism and industrial production in the region.
The project will strengthen the connections between Mersin's ports and production centers, providing infrastructure support to the Development Road.
